The Lost World of Lemuria - Pulp Alley Kickstarter

Things are finally starting to settle down after the big move. Sadly, I've not had much time for my blog or anyone elses, I'm afraid...but I'm looking forward to catching up on what everyone has been up to and maybe even dig through some boxes and get some games in!

Anyway, I'm sure you have all missed my posts about the latest exciting releases and so with that in mind....

Pulp Alley are doing a Kickstarter for their latest book...The Lost World of Lemuria...along with a variety of card decks and minis. Check it out here! Looks absolutely brilliant. Can't wait to get my hands on this. With the exchange rate being so poor at the moment, though, and the shipping, therefore, being a bit pricey...I may actually wait until Sally 4th and Statuesque Miniatures get it in stock.

Anyway, here are a few pics of some of what's up for grabs...

Gotta love Kickstaters!

Pulp Agent, Wargames Illustrated's Latest Giants-in-Miniature

I'm back...sort of. Back from a great two weeks in Cornwall but now busy getting everything ready for the big move next week. So things will still be a bit quiet on the blogging front.

I did, however, notice Wargames Illustrated's latest Giants-in-Miniature fig...Pulp Agent Agent Peggleton!

Sometimes the best man for the job is a woman.
                                                Agent Peggleton
Agent Peggleton is a woman in a man’s world – and she’s better than most of them. A veteran of countless special operations during World War Two, she continues to use her prodigious analytical and combat skills to investigate threats to Democracy and overcome the enemies of Freedom. With her cut glass British accent and her classical looks, she’s a devastatingly attractive woman who can be relied upon to use her feminine wiles and combat skills in equal measure. She wields her trusty Thompson submachine gun in her quest for justice. At times, she suffers at the hands of the sexism endemic to the late 1940’s, constantly striving to prove herself.
Lovely fig and one I have already ordered! Agent Carter figs seem to be a bit like buses...you wait for ages and then two come along at once! Ivor Evans (Saturday Mornings blog) will be happy to have another mini for his superb Agent Carter Pulp Alley games!

Pulp Heroes from Crooked Dice

Oh dear! Yet more temptation! Crooked Dice have just shown some pics on their Facebook page of their upcoming Pulp Heroes for their Time Lost Programme Guide.

Wow. Perfect for Lost World and Pulp gaming. The Rod Taylor (The Time Machine is one of my favourite films) and Doug McClure figs are just brilliant!

Pulp Characters

I got my latest lot of figs back from Matt the other day. This time a variety of characters to add to my Pulp collection. These are mainly Artizan Thrilling Tales minis with a couple of Lucid Eye Savage Core and Copplestone High Adventure figs.

Matt's done a superb job, as always. Not long till our final house move...and then I'll actually be able to get them on the table for a game!

Big Ivan and the Duchess - Pulp Alley League

It's been a couple of months since I posted a new Pulp Alley League, so here is the most recent one my son and I have put together. This time a dynamic duo...

Who hasn't heard of the famous explorers Big Ivan and the Duchess? Did they really reach the mystical city of Shambhala? Or discover an entrance to the Hollow Earth? Is the Duchess really Her Royal Highness, the Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna Romanov? And is Big Ivan her one time bodyguard, Count Konstantin Dmitri Ivanovich...and now her lover? And is it true that Stalin has put a price on both their heads as he wants nothing more than the death of the last Romanov? You can be certain of one thing...it won't be long before we hear of their next adventure!

Sword Masters for Open Combat plus Pulp Alley Deck Boosters

My copy of Sword Masters...the new swashbuckling supplement for Open Combat...arrived yesterday. I've not had much chance to do more than skim through it so far but it looks to be full of new skills, abilities, weapons and scenarios focusing on swordplay, promising to add more depth to combat...and at £8 it's a bargain.

I also noticed that Second Thunder are now offering a cheaper paperback version of the rules. Containing the full rules and three scenarios, it is significantly cheaper than the £30 hardback at just £15 but it does strip out the Campaign Rules and Appendices. Definitely offers a cheaper entry point into the game, though.

I also noticed today that Pulp Alley are offering for pre-order some boosters for their Horror, Solo and Fortune decks. Sally 4th are doing a 10% discount on their pre-orders here.

So many shiny new toys...

Pulp Rally

I noticed this on the Lead Adventure forums here. Not a lot of info about Pulp Rally but there are pics of some accompanying cards.

Sadly it won't be released until next year but the good news is...that is because they have a supplement due out later this year called The Lost World of Lemuria!

Can't wait for that!

Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines!

This month, along with the Cossacks, Matt did these three wonderful figs for me...Dick Dastardly with his Vulture Squadron sidekicks, Zilly and Klunk!

I asked Matt to do Zilly and Klunk in leather versions of their colours from the cartoon which has worked out great. I wasn't that keen, however, on Dick Dastardly being in blue and red as in the cartoon so instead I asked Matt to do him in 'bad guy' black leather and field greys...looks great!

I'm not sure how I will fit these chaps in to my Pulp Alley games...perhaps the Vulture Squadron can be allies of The Mad Baron....?

Cossacks!

I got my latest lot of figs back from Matt of Glenbrook Games yesterday. This time some Cossacks for my Pulp Alley games. As always, Matt has done a superb job on these wonderfully characterful minis!

The figures are all from the Artizan Designs Thrilling Tales range apart from the big chap with the moustache below who was one of Bob Murch's Movember Limited Edition figs.

I did get a few more figs from Matt but I shall be putting them in a post of their own!

The Night Hawks - Pulp Alley League

One last post before we move! Another Pulp Alley League...this one a League which frequently finds itself up against The Justice League!

The Night Hawks are the terror of the skies! Led by the English aristocrat, Lady Minerva Hawke, and her ruthless right-hand, One-Eyed Sal, these Sky Pirates prey on the corrupt fat cats of America! Often found in league with the mysterious masked assassin, Black Nemesis, the Night Hawks make anyone who has abused their wealth, power and position pay for their hubris...in many cases with their lives! Best keep one eye on your money and the other on the skies!

The Justice League - Pulp Alley League

Things are busy as we get ready for our move...not much time for gaming other than the odd board or card game.

I have found the time to put together another Pulp Alley League, however!

The Justice League has just one goal...to protect the citizens of America! The Patriot and Ace trust to their pistols to mete out justice while Liberty uses the Tesla Energy Repulsor invented by the kid genius, Sparks. Sparks herself has Bolt...the Tesla Energy robot she has built...to protect her as well as a variety of other gadgets! Criminals of America beware!

Henry Ironside and...The Pagan Stone! - A Pulp Alley AAR

Six weeks late. Sorry. Real life stuff getting in the way. But at long last the boy and I have finished our latest Pulp Alley comic battle report. So without further ado...

Another brilliant game of Pulp Alley. The boy loved it, too! Not sure when we're going to be able to get the next game in as we're moving again in a couple of weeks and then will be doing so again in August...so a lot of stuff will be staying in storage.

The figures are all Artizan Thrilling Tales and were painted for me by the brilliant Matt Slade of Glenbrook Games Painting Service. The scenery is all aquarium decorations.

For those who are interested, there is a PDF version of the AAR on Google Drive here and Dropbox here...for a bigger and easier-to-read option.
