Deep Cut Studio - Frostgrave Wargames Terrain Mat

Deepcut Studios have just released a rather splendid Frostgrave Terrain Mat. I must admit that up until now I've never really considered any of the snow or ice themed mats...partly because I've not wanted my Frostgrave figures and terrain to be limited to a snow or ice theme but also because none of the mats have really grabbed me. But this one looks great!

I'm a big fan of their cloth mats and already own their Wastelands and Red Planet ones. I also have their Cobblestone, Desert and Steppe mats on my (oh-so-big) wishlist...this one, I think, shall have to join them!

Deep Cut Studio - Red Planet Theme Wargames Terrain Mat

Within a few days of my Deep Cut Studio Wastelands Theme Mat arriving, I splashed out on a second mat...tempted by yet another of Wayland Games seemingly frequent discounts. This time I went for the Red Planet Theme Mat as I'm planning on doing an In Her Majesty's Name Mars campaign at some point next year.

Well, after five weeks, my mat finally arrived...and it looks superb (I'm afraid my camera...and the gloomy day...really doesn't do the mat justice)!

I'm now waiting for another Wayland Games discount/sale and I shall pick up another...just finding it hard to decide between the Cobblestone one, the Desert one or the Steppe one....

Deep Cut Studio - Wastelands Theme Wargames Terrain Mat

Somewhere near the border with Mexico...
I've been tempted for a while by the many excellent wargames mats I've seen being used...particularly Cigar Box Battle mats (now available from North Star) and Deep Cut Studio mats (now available from Wayland Games). My only concerns have been that they sometimes seem to make the table look a bit too 'busy' and the cost...they aren't cheap!

However, when Wayland Games recently started stocking Deep Cut Studio mats, I thought I'd take the plunge and so I bought a Wastelands Theme Cloth mat which I figure will do nicely for Dead Man's Hand, In Her Majesty's Name and the upcoming The Men Who Would Be Kings. It arrived a couple of weeks ago and I was surprised at how thin it was...I was expecting some sort of thin fleece whereas this is much thinner. That said it seems to be pretty tough and sturdy, is machine-washable (I tried it!) and looks the business...so I'm well pleased!

So much so that I just ordered a Red Planet mat for my planned In Her Majesty's Name Mars Campaign and plan to pick up the Cobblestone one soon, too, for both Frostgrave and In Her Majesty's Name!
