Lord Curr and the Shining Buddha of Siam, part one - Companies and Set-up - IHMN AAR

So my son and I managed to get another game of In Her Majesty's Name in over Christmas! Great fun was had. And I lost again. I get the feeling this is going to be the way of things.

This post will detail the Companies, set-up and background. So without further ado, let me present...

...Lord Curr and the Shining Buddha of Siam!

My son played (a slightly different to the one in the book) Lord Curr and his Incorrigibles. As with the Prince of Wales Extraordinary Company that he played last time, it's a pretty straightforward company to play. Very handy with their rifles. Some serious firepower with Mohan Singh. No mystical powers again but this time he has some arc weapons to get used to and a broader range of Talents (and rules...grenades, machine guns) to remember.

I played the (again slightly different to the book) Society of Thule, a very mixed company. Feldwebel Krieg is pretty scary with his flamethrower and Von Stronheim is certainly a match for Lord Curr! The Jagers are excellent riflemen and good in a fight but there are only 4 of them. Until they die, that is...then they turn into Tod-Truppen, zombies who are very hard to put done with their 3+ Pluck.

The Scenario

The Society of Thule have discovered the long, lost Tiger Temple of Siam and its Shining Buddha statue, so named because it is reputed to have been covered in the mysterious metal Orichalcum. And so it is!

The Society have been there for a few days now, carefully stripping the Buddha of this rarest of metals under the wathcful eye of Doctor Kobalt, who plans to use the properties of this rare metal in the creation of a new and devastating weapon!

Fortunately, Lord Curr and his Incorrigibles have been hot on the heels of the villains and so the scene is set for a showdown!

The Table

I decided to have The Society of Thule defending a central position, making up somewhat for their lack of numbers. This would mean that, unlike in the last game, my son would have to do the moving...getting used to the advantages and disadvantages of the movement and shooting penalties.

So The Society of Thule set up in the centre of the table. Lord Curr and his Incorrigibles set up 6 inches from any of the table edges. The objective was for Lord Curr to force the Society of Thule to flee, leaving the Orichalcum behind...or, in other words, knock them down to two or fewer figures.

Tune in soon for...Lord Curr and the Shining Buddha, part two - The Battle, which will cover the  showdown between Lord Curr and the dastardly Society of Thule!

All miniatures were painted by the inimitable Matt Slade! The scenery is a mixed bag of aquarium decorations.
