The Tomb of the Barbarian King - A Frostgrave Battle Report

My son and I had another fun game of Frostgrave recently...and, for a change, I won pretty decisively! I think the game suits my 'hit 'em hard and fast' style of play (tactics? what tactics?). And, despite the defeat, my son loved it. The game has really captured my son's imagination!

Anyway, without further ado...the battle report!

Here's a Dropbox Link and a Google Drive Link to an easier-to-read PDF version.

All miniatures were painted for me by the inimitable Matt Slade of Glenbrook Games. The terrain is mainly Battlefield-in-a-Box stuff with some aquarium decoration trees and statues.

Warlord and Guardians of Lemuria from Antediluvian Miniatures

The Warlord and Guardians of Lemuria are, at long last, now available from Antediluvian Miniatures! I've really been looking forward to the release of these wonderful figures to add to my In Her Majesty's Name Lost World.

Once upon a time in the West!

Doc Holliday and the Earps

Outlaws

My latest lot of figures from Matt arrived yesterday...a wild bunch of Artizan Wild West figures intended for Dead Man's Hand (at last!) and In Her Majesty's Name. As always Matt has done a superb job on these...the perfect (for me!) gritty and dusty colours of the spaghetti Westerns!

The Good...

Doc Holliday, the Earps and Pinkertons

The Bad...

Can't wait to get them on the table and finally give Dead Man's Hand a go!

Crooked Dice Dicestarter for 7TV Second Edition

Crooked Dice have just launched their pre-order for 7TV Second Edition. I'm sorely tempted even though as a genre 70s Spy-Fi isn't really my thing...but the Federated Security and Future Freedom Fighters have been on the wishlist for a long time! How long I can resist?

Coming soon...The Tomb of the Barbarian King in Frostgrave!

The boy and I just had another great game of Frostgrave! And the gods were smiling on me today because I won! Yep! You heard right...I actually won a game. Anyway, lots of fun. Will get the battle report up sometime next week...

Blood Eagle by The Ministry of Gentlemanly Warfare

The Ministry of Gentlemanly Warfare (authors of In Her Majesty's Name and Daisho) have started a Facebook page for their upcoming Viking skirmish game, Blood Eagle, due out sometime next year!

From the Facebook page:

"This has been set up to allow the designers and future players to discuss the game while it is still in development.

Blood Eagle is a new project by the Ministry of Gentlemanly Warfare, using the core rules from In Her Majesty's Name and Daisho to allow people to play games in the legendary 9th and 10th centuries in Northern Europe."

Intended for warbands of around a dozen or so figures with 3 or 4 characters and several warriors, the game will include the mythical side of things. A provisional list of warbands includes: Danish Warbands, Frankish Patrols, Hiberno-Norse, Frost Giants, Irish Chieftains, Lord Uhtred, Jomsvikings, Pictish Raiders, Saxon Eorls, Scandinavian Jarls, Viking Raiders, Welsh Warbands and Heroes of Legend!

I am very much looking forward to this! And I love the Angus McBride pic...

Manual of Monsters - Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish

In case you haven't seen this on the Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish Facebook page, the Manual of Monsters is due out early 2016. I've also heard there are plans for a campaign book later on in the year. Things are definitely looking good for fantasy skirmish!

The coming of Strange Aeons!

This arrived in the post yesterday! I know...yet another game to add to this year's rapidly growing pile! But one of the beauties of Strange Aeons is that it has a solo play option so I should be able to get the odd game in when the kids are at school! I've not had a chance to do much more than flick through the rules as yet but I believe I should also be able to use my existing In Her Majesty's Name figures to play a Victorian version of Strange Aeons...so a game of this might happen sooner rather than later! Huzzah!

Conan and Valeria - Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish Faction

I'm a big fan of Crooked Dice's 7th Voyage and so picked up Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish as soon as it was available. And I wasn't disappointed! The great thing about Otherworld is that you can pretty much make any sort of faction you want especially if you use it in conjunction with 7th Voyage and its supplements.

Just to show how easy it is, I've come up with a Faction using just the Otherworld Fantasy Skirmish rules. Behold..Conan and Valeria!

Nestor and two Gundermen

Total Cost of Faction: 237

Next time I shall have a go at an evil faction...Thoth Amon? Thulsa Doom?
