Blood Eagle Blog

I'm back...in between family games and finishing off the Christmas food...with more news!

Craig Cartmell of The Ministry of Gentlemanly Wafare and co-author of In Her Majesty's Name and Daisho has set up a new blog for their forthcoming game, Blood Eagle, based on the same rules. I, for one, am very much looking forward to these rules! You can find the blog here and the Facebook page here.

Free Star Wars Programme Guide for 7TV 2nd Edition from Crooked Dice

Just taking a quick moment between games of Exploding Kittens and Magic the Gathering as I have just found out that the chaps at Crooked Dice have released a free Star Wars Programme Guide for 7TV 2nd Edition...

A long time ago in a galaxy far far away…
Join the fight as a member of the Rebel Alliance, the Empire, or will you be a gang of scum willing to hire out to the highest bidder? Three new casts with profile cards for 7TV 2nd edition, based on Episodes IV through VI of the Star Wars films.
26 pages including renamed Gadget cards more suitable for the Star Wars universe. Grab your lightsaber or blaster, and may the force be with you!
This product is FREE and requires the 7TV 2nd edition rules to use.
Get it here.
Jolly decent of them! Especially with everything being all about Star Wars at the moment (if you haven't seen The Force Awakens yet you should!).
Hope you're all having a good Christmas! See you in the New Year!

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!

I'm not going to be doing much wargaming over the holidays but I shall be playing lots of family games especially the rather brilliant Exploding Kittens! Thanks to Matt Slade for pointing us in its direction!

We'd like to wish you all a very merry Christmas...may Santa bring you lots of gaming goodies...and all the best for the New Year!

Renegade Indians and The Kelly Gang for Dead Man's Hand

Matt of Glenbrook Games recently finished up some more Dead Man's Hand figures for me...this time some Renegade Indians and The Kelly Gang. He has, as always, done a superb job!

I'm not sure I'll actually use the Kelly Gang for Dead Man's Hand but I think they will do nicely as the basis for an In Her Majesty's Name company.

As for the Renegade Indians, my son and I played a game of Dead Man's Hand yesterday with his Renegade Indians taking on my Outlaws. Another action-packed game...it really is great fun! I'll try and get the battle report written up before Christmas.

In case I don't, though, I'd like to take the opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas...may Santa bring you lots of gaming goodies...and all the best for the New year!

Deep Cut Studio - Red Planet Theme Wargames Terrain Mat

Within a few days of my Deep Cut Studio Wastelands Theme Mat arriving, I splashed out on a second mat...tempted by yet another of Wayland Games seemingly frequent discounts. This time I went for the Red Planet Theme Mat as I'm planning on doing an In Her Majesty's Name Mars campaign at some point next year.

Well, after five weeks, my mat finally arrived...and it looks superb (I'm afraid my camera...and the gloomy day...really doesn't do the mat justice)!

I'm now waiting for another Wayland Games discount/sale and I shall pick up another...just finding it hard to decide between the Cobblestone one, the Desert one or the Steppe one....

Lucid Eye News

Lucid Eye just posted on their Facebook page that the Lucid Eye Savage Core range...some of my favourite figures...will be available direct from Warlord Games. There will also be new Savage Core releases in 2016 along with, it seems, a set of rules!

Anyway, here's the post:

News From The Future!
The Lucid Eye Savage Core range will shortly be available direct from Warlord Games!
Over the next few months, the Savage Core range will be available from the Warlord website, watch for further news. This will not supplant Arcane Scenery's sterling efforts in that direction, who will continue to stock the Lucid Eye ranges.
2016 promises to be a busy year for The Eye, as the Lucidea range comes to fruition, with further releases for Savage Core, and perhaps some further news of the Lucid Eye games system. What excitement! Hoo!
Meanwhile, all you supportive guys can bask in the seasonal light of good vibes emanating from the glowing, all seeing, mystical Eye of Lucidea.

More about Studio Tomahawk's upcoming Congo!

Someone on the Lead Adventure forums posted a link to an old Beasts of War article on the forthcoming Congo from Studio Tomahawk. I've been eagerly awaiting any news on this set of rules so I'm surprised I missed this article from way back in October...anyway, here it is:

Studio Tomahawk have visited the Wargames Illustrated crew and they showed off how to play their upcoming game, Congo. While it’s neat to see it’s coming along nicely it was great to see some more of the components for the game which look very fun…

The game is set during a period that might not be very comfortable for some but looks to explore the conflicts between Colonial Explorers and Natives. Think Alan Quartermain and Victorian adventurers out there in the wilds.

The game looks like it not only has a range of statistic cards for use with the different units but a variety of cards that resolve actions and such too. I have no idea what half of those symbols mean but I love the fact that they’re looking to do something different once again, a little bit like they did with SAGA.

This era of history also means you get to explore a lot of interesting tabletops covered in exotic terrain. As well as the brush and savannah you can go deeper into the jungle and up into mountains. The geography of Africa is fantastic and this gives licence for a lot of terrain makers to go crazy.

I love the idea that maybe we’ll be seeing some ambushing animals hiding in the swamps. Getting attacked by crocodiles while trying to fend off arrogant explorers sounds like a great time indeed.

Can't wait!

Billy Fish...coming soon to Artizan's North-West Frontier Range!

North Star have just posted a pic on their Facebook page of a Billy Fish miniature to go with their upcoming Danny and Peachy miniatures as part of their North-West Frontier range. Just superb!

Cultist Knight and Templar

Cultist Apothecary and Marksman

Cultist Tracker and Warhound

Lovely sculpts...I shall be picking all of these up except for the Rangifers, which really don't do it for me, for some reason.

Lemurians and Lost World Survivors for my In Her Majesty's Name Lost World

I've finally gotten around to adding the Lemurians and Lost World Survivors to my In Her Majesty's Name Lost World! The updated PDF can be found on Google Drive here or Dropbox here.

No-one is quite sure how these gentlemen survivors came to be in the Lost World...some say they came out of the earth in a giant burrowing machine, others that they came up from the depths of a great lake in a floating metal ball! Regardless, these plucky gentlemen are just trying to find their way home with the help of the beautiful native woman, Loana, the Fair One!

The Dishevelled Detective and Dr. Hamish - Giants in Miniature from Wargames Illustrated

The Dishevelled Detective and Dr. Hamish are the latest Giants in Miniature release from Wargames Illustrated. Wonderful figures and as they're perfect for In Her Majesty's Name I've just ordered mine! They're available from today from Wargames Illustrated direct or North Star but are apparently limited to just 500...so if you want a pair best hurry!
